Metacognition (thinking about your thinking) has always been the holy grail of self-awareness. But it's slippery. Your thoughts, opinions, and beliefs all blur together in your head. You can't easily separate "what I think" from "how I think" from "why I think this."
LLMs change this. They externalize your thinking. You dump thoughts into Claude, it reflects them back structured, challenged, reframed. Suddenly there's space between you and your ideas. You see them as objects you can examine, not just currents you swim in.
This isn't just productivity, it's the first tool that lets you watch your mind work in real-time and change it mid-stream. The mirror actually talks back.
